Chapter Two - The Begining of the End
As
I walked to the back of the building, I began to wonder what made the Shadows so great? What seperated them from the rest
of the world? They were just ordinary teenagers. I shrugged it off and continued to the back. As the end of the 3 o clock
hour dawned on me, I became anxious to meet The Shadow Nine. I turned the corner and there all in a bunch were The Shadow
Nine, the Original Shadow Nine. Cat turned around and motioned me to come over. I nodded to her, "Shadow Two" I said softly
in passing and I faced the others, "Hello" I murmmered to them and they all nodded back to me. I gathered my breath and hoped
for the group to believe me
I stood in front of them, thier eyes glaring at me, judging me from the moment that i stood
up "hello, my name is Cervantes, and i come from the future to ask for your aligence. Will you aid me in my cause?"
They
looked at me, then at eachother, and then back at me again. A young girl with who stood in the front doubled over with laughter.
"Im sorry!!" she stammered while wiping the tears from her eyes, "but...but YOU want US to help you?! We can't even help ourselves
at times, let alone anyone else! I know Gina told us to take you seriously, but....but still!!" and she sat down on the stone
steps of the high school, her shoulders shaking from laughter. I watched her in disgust, my hands were clenched in fists,
unaware that i was starting to punture the skin and draw blood. "FINE!" I yelled at her, "FINE! Let your pathetic world suffer
because you only care for yourselves!"
As I turned on my heel, my head trobbing from anger, a voice behind me cried out
"hold on a moment!"
I thew a backwards glance at them. They all stood there, lined up like some renegade group of soldiers.
Each one wore a smirk smile on thier faces, each one looking at me, judgeing my words. "Wait a moment" one of the guys said,
whom i did not know his name. "We never said we WOULDN'T help you. We dont care where you came from, or why you came to us
for help. All we know is that you need help and thats what you are going to get." "Besides"Cat said to me as she glared into
my eyes, the threat of my head coming off returned, "You must have some serious problems if you came to us for help.""Well
then," someone said from the back of the group, "If its decided then....lets go!"
I looked at them at smiled. "Thank you,
my world will be much better with you around." I begain to walk off and I turned and smiled at them again, "We leave at dusk!"
They
were able to get away for about a week, thankfully because of the tragidy of the worlds first end, the earth will change its
orbit, causeing a drastic change in time.
As we took off to where the rift in thier world was, I learned who the Shadow
Nine really were:
Shadow One is Erin, The Ballerina
Shadow Two is Cat, The Renegade
Shadow Three is Hilda, The
Airhead
Shadow Four is Paola, The Major
Shadow Five is Vince, The Starving Musician
Shadow Six is Marc, The White
Boy
Shadow Seven is Blas, The Cowboy
Shadow Eight is Cloudy, The Goth
Shadow Nine is Gina, The Pacifisit
As we came into my world, I had to explain what being a Shadow really meant to my generation and
my generation past.
"A long time ago," I begain as we begain to walk through The Falling Tower, the city's rememberance
to the Shadows of years Past,"before you came into existance, the Spirits of the Universe had other plans. The gods sent out
9 stars that fell upon the Earth, and these 9 stars became spirits. These 9 Spirits would live and die within the greatest
Heros of Mankind. Not reincarnation, but the spirit...the spark would live on. Finally in the year 2004, the stars became
one, they became the Original Shadow Nine. Naturally the stars would find a way to each other...it just took them a while
to do that. Since this was the first time the stars would be together as one, thier powers were weak and unable summon when
help was needed. This was at a very unfortunate because of this fatal flaw....it lead to the worlds demise..." I turned around
and faced them, hopeing i didnt scare them too much. I smiled at them. "But dont worry, that wont happen until the year 3025.
To be exact." I turned back to the long hallway in which we were walking through and continued with my speech.
"Through
genetic research and other....crap....we were to finally able to isolate the star within a Shadow. But unfortunally that generation
of scientists screwed with nature, the rest of us were cursed. That generation triggered the star to be on 'On Mode' all the
time, forcing those who had the 'gift' into exile from the Civilized World" I stopped and looked at a painting nearby.
Gina
spoke from besides my right shoulder in a small voice. "But...but why?" "Because," I said softly, "anyone who was a Shadow
or was part of thier bloodline, was able to summon great monsters of Heaven and Hell. People became afraid of them, and so...we
were forced to live away from the Civilized World."
I lead them to the end of the hallway and placed my hand on the doorhandle.
"Will you let my families team of scientists test you for the 'Shadow Star?' that lies within you? It would make a WORLD of
difference to so many people...please? Will you? I would test myself but because of what happened years ago, I have what you
would call 'Tainted' powers, you all however, are pure! And you may be able to summon more great and powerful creatures than
we can in this era. Can you help us?"
They looked at each other and then back to me, then back to eachother. "One question,"
Cloudy said while brushing a lock of jet black hair out of her eyes, "Will this hurt?" I looked at her and laughed, "No of
course not! I wouldn't ask you if it did!" I opened the door and the hallway flooded with white light. "This way please. Let
me show you the way."
